As of 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 1, there were 22,885 customers without power across Long Island, said PSEG Long Island spokesman Marko Cucci.

Suffolk County was hit the hardest. Hardest hit areas are in the towns of Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, and Babylon, the company said.

Additional personnel, including tree and line crews, have been deployed to continue to assess, repair damage and restore outages.

Crews work to restore critical facilities and outages affecting the largest numbers of customers first.

"We expect to have additional off-island personal joining our own workforce beginning later this morning," said Elizabeth F. Flagler, head of external communications.

Crews worked through the night and will continue to work 16-hour shifts to assess the damage and make repairs.

The company is continuing to assess the damage, estimated restoration times will be refined. Additional personnel, including tree and line crews, have been deployed to continue to assess, repair damage and restore outages.

“Our crews will continue to work, round the clock, until every customer is restored," said Flagler. "This storm brought down many trees and wires throughout our service area, and it will take time to complete repairs. We know that being without power for any length of time is a hardship and we thank our customers for their patience as we work through the damage and difficult conditions to restore their power as safely and quickly as possible.”

No estimate was given as to when most power would be restored due to the severity of the outages.
